Happy Friday Bayside!
It was a lovely second week of school at Bayside. Our students are starting to settle in and there has been a real focus around the school of getting to know everyone. We have begun our year with every grade working with the picture book, “Together a Forest” by Roz McLean and celebrating that every person in our school has unique gifts and talents they bring to our community, and every person also needs something a little different from our community. Parents will have an opportunity to see the beginning of our Bayside forest on Meet the Teacher night with our bulletin board of staff tree cookies. We hope to build the display out through the year to incorporate our entire school community.
UPDATES & REMINDERS:
Traffic and Pedestrian Safety:
A reminder to all community members to please be mindful of pedestrian safety, particularly between 7:45-8:00 AM, when students are arriving at school, and 2:30-2:45 PM, when they are leaving.
We are excited to share that our Patrols Team will be up and running starting on Monday September 14. Thank you to Ms. Curnew and the grade 5 team for your work with this important team. Patrols will be out at 7:45-8:00 AM and after school from 2:30-2:45 PM. As always, please be patient and prioritize safety over convenience.
Report Traffic Safety Concerns
Meet the Teacher:
Meet the Teacher night will be on Thursday September 17 from 4:00-6:30 PM. Parents will sign up for a 20 minute time slot through MyCBE to visit your child’s classroom and meet their teacher. Each 20 minute time slot will have up to 5 families visiting at a time. Our hope is that this format allows for families to tour the classroom with your child, meet your teacher, and interact with other families as well. Sign up will be available online beginning on Sept. 11 at 12:00 PM through your MyCBE account.
Volunteering at Bayside:
We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of our volunteers.
To ensure the safety and security of CBE students and staff, all volunteers must be registered with the school each school year before participating in volunteer activities as well as have a valid police clearance. You can find more information and the links you need by clicking the link below.

Parents and guardians can access the Volunteer registration form through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account.
Terry Fox Run:
The Terry Fox School Run is a Canadian tradition that brings students together in courage and community. It unites schools across the country to honour Terry’s example and show that anyone, at any age, can make a difference. We are proud to stand with thousands of schools across Canada and support cancer research.
Bayside Terry Fox School Run will be on Friday, September 18th for students and staff. Your child can bring in “toonies for Terry”/cash donation anytime from now until September 18th. Or online donations can be made through our school fundraising page at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/BaysideCalgary with all funds going towards cancer research.
Thank you for your support!
Dogs
Please note that dogs are not permitted on the school grounds. This is the City of Calgary Bylaw. Feel free to stand on the sidewalk and wave with your pet😊
