Traffic Safety
Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.
Traffic Safety Reminders from The City of Calgary
The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Parents and guardians are reminded not to park where it’s prohibited during drop off and pick up times, such as blocking crosswalks, laneways and private driveways.
Pick up and drop off times can get quite busy. Give yourself extra time to navigate safely around schools, whether you are walking, wheeling, or driving. For those who drive, help alleviate congestion by parking a block or two away and walking in, wherever possible.
Talk to your kids about safe travel practices like using crosswalks with patrols, looking all ways before crossing the street and not jaywalking across the roadways as a shortcut.

The safety of our children is of prime importance and we therefore ask parents to observe the following rules.
- Please do not use our staff parking lot for student drop-off. If you are going to drop-off or pick up a student, please use the drop and go zone along Auburn Crest Park or park on one of the surrounding streets and walk your child to their assigned door.
- When you cross the crosswalk on Auburn Crest Park, instead of turning left and walking through the parking lot, try turning right to go to the pathway. It is a small change that can make a difference for student safety. The bonus is, the pathway will bring you directly to the new playground!
- Our Bus Zone is located along Auburn Springs Blvd. There is no parking in this zone to allow for buses to park for the safety of our students.
- It is unsafe to make a U-turn in front of the school or in a playground zone.
- Please review pedestrian safety with your child and model safe practices for them when walking to school. This involves crossing in a crosswalk or at the corner and not walking through our staff parking lot. Please prioritize safety, even if you are in a hurry. We would much rather you and your child arrive at school safely and a little bit late than to rush and potentially cause a traffic incident.
- Our Student Safety Patrol on Auburn Spring Blvd. is in full swing! Please follow the direction of our Safety Patrol leaders both as a driver and as a pedestrian.
- Our wonderful patrols team has created a video for students and families to help everyone understand when to wait and when to cross. You can see the video here!
- Pedestrians: Please wait for the patrols to say “proceed” before crossing. When you hear them say “step back” please be patient and wait until the next crossing.
- Drivers: Please do not enter the intersection or crosswalk until you have made eye-contact with the patrols team. Please be patient as our students are working hard to help manage the traffic flow at the intersection and it can make it very tricky if people are in a rush. Thankyou for valuing safety over convenience.
