At Bayside we strive to provide many dynamic learning opportunities for our students. Throughout the school year we have different clubs running for students to participate in and enjoy! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
Basketball Club: Our Grade 5 Basketball Club is designed for young athletes eager to develop their basketball skills, improve teamwork, and have fun on the court! This program focuses on building a strong foundation in the fundamentals of basketball, including ball handling, dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense, while also teaching players the importance of good sportsmanship and communication. Please contact Mrs. Secord or Mrs. Cassan with any questions.
Grade 5 Orff Club: Bayside School has been invited to perform at Orff the Wall, a musical performance that showcases the excellence of elementary music programs within the CBE. Grade 5 Orff Club runs twice a week at lunch. Students will be working together to create a performance that involves singing, instruments, and movement. Registration in this club is limited to 40 students who will be dedicated and committed to rehearsals.
Grade 4 E-Sports Club: Grade Four students were invited to join the Bayside School Esports Club. Students will play age-appropriate games on the Nintendo Switch. They will learn gaming skills, strategies, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Students will compete in friendly, tournament-style games with their peers. The Esports Club runs from January 14 to February 12 and meets twice a week. Students will spend the full lunch period eating, working together, and taking part in esports activities. Please contact Mr. Marino with any questions.
Grade 5 Volleyball Club: Our Grade 5 Volleyball Club meets during lunchtime and gives students a fun, supportive place to build their volleyball skills. With a focus on teamwork and sportsmanship, students learn and practice key skills such as serving, passing, setting, and basic game strategies. The club is designed to help students grow their confidence on the court, improve coordination, and develop a love for the game — all while staying active and having fun with their classmates.
Techsperts: A group of student leaders, Techsperts, meet regularly after school on select Tuesdays. Techsperts from each Grade 3, 4 and 5 class will work with their teachers and classmates to promote digital citizenship and respect for our technology. Our Techsperts are excited to assist students and teachers on how to use popular apps and tools on our iPads and Chromebooks. They are also responsible for taking care of technology and making sure it is available for all Bayside students. Please reach out to Ms. Curnew or Mr. Corriveau for more information about Techsperts.
🚦 AMA Safety Patrol at Bayside School 🚦
The AMA Safety Patrol Club is made up of responsible Grade 5 students who help keep our school community safe. Patrollers assist classmates at crosswalks, model safe behavior, and promote respect and responsibility on school grounds. With training and support from the Alberta Motor Association, our Safety Patrol members gain leadership skills, confidence, and pride in making a difference every day.
At Bayside, we’re proud of our Grade 5 patrollers for being role models and helping everyone arrive at and leave school safely!
*** Please note that School Safety Patrols will not be on duty when temperatures drop below -20° C or during other severe weather conditions such as heavy rain, extremely icy roads, or high levels of smoke in the air. Students are encouraged to exercise caution when crossing the street independently.
