Happy Friday Bayside!

This week we finished up our dance residency with Sound Kreations! The students and teachers LOVED it! It was so fun to hear students’ excited buzz when they knew they would get to work with Kes in the gym. Every student was engaged and for many, this was their first experience with dance instruction. This opportunity would not have been possible without the generosity of our School Council and BSFA.

REMINDERS & UPDATES:

Bayside Flag

On Monday, the flags at CBE schools and buildings were lowered to half-mast in recognition of the tragic events at the Canadian Forces Base in Wainwright over the weekend. At that time the Canadian flag was lowered at our school, but due to mechanical challenges the Alberta flag could not be lowered. This was corrected on Tuesday morning.  We are sorry for any concern or confusion this caused.

The Calgary Board of Education and Bayside School are non-partisan and politically neutral. Our role as a school is to support student success, not advance or deter individual political campaigns or political party agendas.

Lost and Found

The Bayside lost and Found is full! Classes have been taking lost and found tours, looking for their items. Parents who would like to take a look, please just check in at our office and we are happy to show you to the lost and found area to find your students’ things. If you are missing a particular item, also feel free to let your child’s teacher know so we can help them look.

Halloween at Bayside

A reminder to please check our Halloween guidelines for dress up day on October 30!

The Importance of Daily Student Attendance

As we begin the 9th week of school, we wish to highlight the importance of daily attendance for student success. Being present at school provides valuable opportunities for learning, connection, and participation in the school community. Students are expected to attend regularly and punctually. When students miss 10% or more of instructional time, approximately two or more days a month, it can become challenging for students to fully participate in classroom learning and school activities. We recognize that various circumstances can affect a student’s attendance, and we are committed to approaching these situations with understanding and support. Our school is available to collaborate with families to identify concerns, explore possible strategies, and share information about supports and resources when needed. If your child won’t be attending school, we request that you call Bayside School’s attendance line to report their absence . You can also email Bayside@cbe.ab.ca. If your child is having ongoing challenges coming to school, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Thank you for your continued partnership around your child's learning experience.
