Happy Friday Bayside!

It was World Teachers’ Day on Monday and with Thanksgiving weekend coming up, I am feeling very grateful for our staff, students and parent community at Bayside. Our School Council was very generous and showed our teachers and staff appreciation on Monday with coffee and yummy treats! This week, many of our students reflected on what they are thankful for… my teacher, my friends, my family, my home, our beautiful land, food on my table, clean water… so many things. I hope that you will have an opportunity this long weekend to reflect with your family on all that we have to be grateful for.

REMINDERS AND UPDATES:

Fostering Safe & Respectful School Communities – A Message from Superintendent Pitman 

This school year, CBE is taking action to make expectations that reinforce the importance of respectful interactions and positive learning environments clearer and more accessible. The first of these steps include:

  • We have updated Administrative Regulation 5002, Responsibilities of Parents.
  • Beginning in October, new signage will be introduced in CBE schools and worksites outlining expectations for respectful conduct.

At Bayside School, we value opportunities to work in partnership with parents and deeply appreciate the shared responsibility around creating a safe & respectful learning community. 

Annual Volunteer Registration

A reminder to parents to please complete the annual Volunteer Registration in your MyCBE Account, even if you already have a current police clearance on file. Volunteer registration is a process that needs to be completed each new school year.

Changing Weather: Be Prepared!

Bayside students go outside almost every day for fresh air breaks, lunch recess, and sometimes, Physical Education and other learning. Autumn is here and snow is forecasted in the coming days. Please ensure your students are prepared and dressed appropriately for the changing weather. If your family is in need of warm clothing, please reach out to us at bayside@cbe.ab.ca and we will seek support for you.

On rare occasions, students will stay indoors due to “Blue Day” conditions. Temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius (with or without wind chill) or when air quality conditions are poor. When this happens, we will keep students indoors and do alternative activities in the classrooms for fresh air breaks and recess.

Bring your brightest smile and wear your favourite outfit on Photo Day, October 15, 2026. Thank you to the parents who have signed up to help us that day.

Halloween Fun at Bayside

Friday October 30 will be a fun day at Bayside School! Classes may engage in Halloween or Autumn-themed learning activities at the teachers’ discretion. We know that many of our families look forward to Halloween each year and we welcome the opportunity to capitalize on our students’ excitement to enhance their learning. Please check out our Halloween Guidelines so we can ensure a fun and safe day for everyone.
