Bayside December 22 Update
Happy Friday Bayside!
We wrapped up the year with a week of terrific performances by all grades along with caroling and sing-alongs. There are so many people to thank! From helping to set up the gym (Mr. Chang, our facility operator), to technical support (Mr. Corriveau and Ms. Curnew), to practicing (all of our teachers), to planning the program and performances (Ms. Blackman), as well as supporting our students on and off the stage (our teachers and support staff), it was a team effort! Thank you also to Topp Kids for their flexibility in using half of the gym and to Ms. Cassan and the rest of our teachers for planning outdoor Phys. Ed. all week to allow us to have our gym set up for our guests. Finally, thank you to our parents and families who joined us each morning and afternoon. We so appreciate you taking the time out of your busy days to support our students in their efforts.
Reminders and Updates:
Magic of Christmas: Thank you to everyone who donated to the Magic of Christmas campaign. They have picked up our bins full of presents and many families will enjoy gifts this Christmas, thanks to your generosity.
Copper Wire Recycling: The Copper wire recycling has also been picked up. We will announce in the New Year which class collected the most and earned a pizza party! Our grade twos are so appreciative of everyone’s contributions and we look forward to hearing more about the Yellow Fish Road initiative.
Registration for 2024-25 School Year: Starting Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, kindergarten registration will be open for the 2024-25 school year. For children to be eligible to register and attend kindergarten next school year, they must turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2024.
See the CBE message “Getting Ready for Kindergarten Registration” and the “Kindergarten Registration Guide” for more information.
Students who are currently enrolled at Bayside in K-4, and who live within our designated attendance boundary, will automatically be enrolled in the next grade at Bayside for the 2024-25 school year. There is no need to register your child again.
Grade 5 students living in the attendance area for Lakeshore, currently attending Bayside School, will automatically be included in the lottery for Grade 6 at Lakeshore School. Please visit our website for more information on the CBE lottery process. The notice regarding overflow designation for Lakeshore school can be found here.
For the 2024-25 school year, registrations submitted before the lottery deadline of 12 p.m. (noon) on Feb. 13, 2024, will be included in the lottery draws. All registrations received after noon on Feb. 13, 2024, will be added to the callback list (based on the appropriate priority level) in the order they are received.
***All parents are reminded to keep your contact information up to date through SchoolEngage by logging into My CBE Account. Also important, please ensure you have indicated your child’s siblings in SchoolEngage; this is especially important during the lottery process at both Mahogany School and Lakeshore School to help us ensure families are kept together as much as possible.
Bayside Bus Zone: A reminder to parents and caregivers that our bus zone along Auburn Springs Blvd. has been extended to the back of the school. It will be important to observe this extension after winter break when field trips resume and multiple buses need to park next to the school at the beginning and end of the day. Thank you for your help.
School Council & Parent Fundraising Association Meeting: Our first meeting of the New Year will be January 22 at 6:00 PM. Our meetings are in person at Bayside school. Parents who are unable to join us in person are welcome to observe the meeting online- we will send a Microsoft Teams link prior to the meeting. We hope to see many of you there!
Arts Centred Learning: Willow Park School offers Arts-centred learning for students in grades 5-9. They will be hosting an open house on Wednesday January 10 from 5-7 PM. Click here for more information.
