Happy Thursday Bayside!

Bayside school has been very fortunate to have a number of student teachers from University of Calgary and St. Mary’s University this year. They have worked alongside many of our amazing teachers as they completed their Practicum experiences. Our teachers provided mentorship and feedback to the students as they practiced and refined their craft. This week we are saying goodbye to the students from University of Calgary and next week the students from St. Mary’s will also finish up their time with us. We wish them all well as they begin their careers and may even see some of them again in the future as certified teachers!

Updates and Reminders:

Volunteer tea, April 25: Have you RSVPed for our 3rd Annual Volunteer Tea yet? We hope you will be able to join us! Click here for more information and to RSVP.

Thank you to the parents who have signed up to volunteer. All of our slots for week 1 have been filled! I will be sending a confirmation email to volunteers next week.

Some tips/ reminders for a successful week of swimming:

-          Please ensure you have signed the swimming field trip forms and filled out the Swimming Ability form and returned them to your child’s teacher.

-          Send your child dressed with their bathing suit underneath their school clothes and underwear packed in their swimming bag

-          Please provide a specific swimming bag other than their backpack as backpacks will stay at school.

-          Send a labelled large zip lock bag for your child’s wet bathing suit.

-          Send a towel.

-          EpiPens & Inhalers should be packed in their swim bag.

-          Please label every single item with your child’s name.

-          Please remind your child to not bring valuables or any unnecessary items to the pool such as water bottles as there are water fountains available.

-          Practice getting changed at home, as your child should be able to change independently.

April 22 is Earth Day! We are excited to celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd Our grade 5 classes are leading the charge by organizing a community clean-up and inviting our other classes to make a commitment to help care for our earth. We invite students, staff and visitors to wear green or blue on April 22😊

Parking and traffic: A reminder to parents and caregivers that parking directly next to the school is very limited. Please be good neighbours and avoid blocking driveways, fire hydrants, and other no-parking areas (including the bus zone and staff parking lot).  Planning to leave just a few minutes early and parking a block or two from the school can help make the morning run smoothly for everyone.

Dogs on School Property: A reminder to our families that dogs are not permitted on school property according to City of Calgary Bylaw. We love our furry friends but there are people with varying levels of sensitivity in our community and we need to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable. Please keep to the public sidewalks when walking your dog near the school. Thank you!

Kindergarten enrolment update: Parents who have registered their child for Kindergarten for the 2025-26 School Year should have received an email, confirming your child’s enrolment in Morning (AM) or Afternoon (PM) Kindergarten on April 17. After processing all registrations and working through the call-backs process with Mahogany School, we anticipate two AM classes and one PM class. We were able to place all families in their preferred time and there was no need for a draw.

My First Ride, May 24 or 25: Registration is now open for CBE’s “My First Ride” program, aimed at helping families who are new to bus transportation feel comfortable and confident with taking the bus. Click here for more information and to register.
