Bayside update Sept 26
Happy Friday Bayside!
We had a terrific turn-out this week for Meet the Teacher night, It was so much fun to see the pride on our students’ faces as they toured their families around and introduced them to the staff. Thank you for being partners with us in supporting our students. If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher for any reason, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. On behalf of the staff, I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to our School Council and BSFA for providing our teachers with a delicious dinner from Donair Grill. We really appreciated it.
Our Orange Shirt Day assembly on Wednesday was so heart-warming. We celebrated resilience and belonging through song and story. As a school we committed to actions in each of the domains of the Holistic framework:
Spirit: Our call to action is to know and show that every child matters.
Heart: Our call to action is to build relationships with each other to create belonging.
Body: Our call to action is to listen and learn.
Mind: Our call to action is to approach each other, and learning, with curiosity.
REMINDERS AND UPDATES
Terry Fox Run:
This year marks the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox’s legendary Marathon of Hope. Our school is proud to honour Terry’s legacy by participating in the Terry Fox Run October 3rd and raising funds for cancer research. This year we have a goal of raising $1300 for the Terry Fox Foundation. There will be a fun surprise for students if we reach our goal!
Let’s work together to make a difference! https://schools.terryfox.ca/Bayside
Students will be running around the field outside so please remember to send your child prepared for the weather!
Family and Caregiver Series:
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community. Session details are available on the Child and Youth Family and Caregiver Series public facing page.
Family Caregiver Wellness Series
Bayside School partners with Brown Bag for Calgary Kids to provide school lunches to families who need some extra support. If you would like to access this program or if you have any questions, please email Ms. Prestayko at vdprestayko@cbe.ab.ca.
Medical Forms
Please complete a medical form if your child has any allergies or medical conditions, we need to be aware of. This form is also to be completed for any students who require medication at school or medication to be administered.
