Happy Friday Bayside Families!

We had a wonderful first week of school! It is always exciting to see our students’ bright faces after the summer and to hear about everyone’s adventures. We have welcomed many new families to Bayside this year and I am so impressed with how our new students and families are settling into our community. This morning we had our first Welcome Assembly in the gym, organized by Ms. McCune.  We practiced positive audience behaviour, listened to the acknowledgement of the land, and sang Oh Canada. I read a lovely book called “This is a School” and Ms. Prestayko introduced all of our staff. At the end of the assembly, we sang “Count on Me” which is becoming a sweet tradition at Bayside. I’ll tell you, there is nothing like listening to hundreds of children sing “Ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo” all together!

Updates and Reminders:

Crosswalk Safety

A reminder to all community members to please be mindful of pedestrian safety, particularly between 7:45-8:00 AM, when students are arriving at school, and 2:30-2:45 PM, when they are leaving. Ms. Curnew and the Patrols team are working hard to get our patrols up and running for the crosswalk on Auburn Springs Blvd which will help with the flow of traffic. We will let you know when you can expect to see school safety patrols in the near future. As always, please be patient and prioritize safety over convenience.

Save the Date!

Bayside School Meet the Teacher night will be Thursday September 25, 2025 from 4-8 PM. This year we are trying a different format from previous years. The primary purpose for “Meet the teacher” is to give parents a chance to connect with your child’s teacher and to be able to have you visit the classroom and school. This year, parents will have an opportunity to sign up for a 20 minute time slot between 4-8 PM where you and a few other families will visit the classroom. Teachers will be here to answer questions and your child will be able to show you their classroom and share a little bit about their learning in the first few weeks of school. Sign-up will be online through MyCBE so make sure you have your account set up!

Coming Up:

September 9: School Council and BSFA meeting, 6:00 PM

September 12: PM Kindergarten Attends

September 25: Meet the Teacher

September 29: Professional Learning Day, No school for students

September 30: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, No school for students

Have a beautiful weekend!
