Happy Friday Bayside!
What a beautiful fall we are experiencing. The crisp, cool mornings, shorter days, and changing leaves are reminders of the changing seasons. Next Friday our students will be participating in the Terry Fox Run, an annual autumn tradition for Canadian students that brings us together around Terry Fox’s inspirational story with the common goal of raising awareness and funds in support of cancer research. This year we have a goal of raising $1200 for the Terry Fox Foundation. There will be a fun surprize for students if we reach our goal!
We had a terrific turn-out last week for meet the teacher conferences and our teachers were happy to have face to face meetings with parents and students. This week we celebrated International Teacher Appreciation day and the incredible work our teachers do to support their students and families. Thank you for being partners with us in supporting our students. If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher for any reason, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
Updates and Reminders:
Dogs and School Property: A reminder to our families that dogs are not permitted on school property according to City of Calgary Bylaw. We love our furry friends but there are people with varying levels of sensitivity in our community and we need to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable. Thank you!
Terry Fox Run: Bayside’s Terry Fox Run will be taking place on Friday October 11 during the morning. Please ensure students are dressed for the weather because we will be heading outside rain or shine, just like Terry! This year we have set a goal to raise $1200 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Students are invited to bring a Toonie for Terry or parents are welcome to make an online donation: https://schools.terryfox.ca/Bayside Thank you to BSFA for providing a refreshing treat for after the runJ Teachers will be reaching out to parents I they need any volunteers.
Demographic Forms: Please remember that all demographic forms are now past due. Please take time to complete these as this is very important information for us to have at the school to be able to best support your children. You can find your forms through accessing your MyCBE account.
Lunchroom Registration: Please remember to register your child for lunchroom if they stay for lunch. Lunchroom fees will be added to MyCBE accounts in October.
Bayside School Council and BSFA:
Apple Fundraiser: Only 5 days left to purchase apples from our Apple fundraiser! All proceeds will go to support Bayside School programs through the BSFA. The deadline for ordering is October 9 and apples will be delivered to the school on October 23.
Get Involved: Our next School Council and BSFA meeting is next Tuesday, October 8 at 6:00 PM. All Parents are welcome. School Council is a wonderful way to meet other parents and connect to the school community. This week our grade 4 team will be sharing about the learning happening in their classrooms. We hope to see you there! Make sure to follow @baysideschoolcommunity on Instagram and/ or Facebook to stay aware of what is happening.
Halloween Dance: Something Wicked is coming to Bayside. The school council witches are brewing a very special potion to bring Halloween to Bayside a few weeks early! Save the date for October 18th, 6-9pm. More info coming soon!
