Hello Bayside Parents!

It was a fun Halloween Day at Bayside! Our students’ and teachers’ costume game was on point and classes engaged in fun learning throughout the morning. Check out Instagram for photos of the fun! If you are heading out to Trick or Treat this evening, the City of Calgary has some greatHalloween Safety Tips on their website.

It has been good for all of us to return to a routine and to be together again after a difficult few weeks. I want to assure our parent community that Bayside staff is committed to uplifting and supporting everyone in our community, especially our students. Thank you for your patience as teachers get back into the swing of things and resume normal operations. With the time away, there will be some adjustments to timelines of planned activities. We will update you as decisions are made and parents can also check the CBE Website for system updates about re-entry: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/news-centre/Labour-Action/Pages/default.aspx

Patrols and Traffic Safety: Bayside School Safety Patrols will be starting up again on Monday November 3. We know that our Patrols provide an important service to help ensure the safety of our students and families. Please continue to exercise caution and patience both when driving and walking to and from school. Pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility.

Photo Day: Our school Photo day has been rescheduled to next week, Thursday November 6, 2025. Just enough time for students to pick out their outfits and practice their smiles!

Remembrance Day: Given the short timeline for our students and staff to prepare, as well as fire regulations around gym capacity, our Remembrance Day assembly on Friday November 7 will be for students and staff only. We look forward to welcoming parents to other celebrations later in the year.

Ms. Prestayko Update: Unfortunately, our Assistant Principal, Ms. Prestayko, has found it necessary to take a medical leave. We are hopeful that the duration is short and will communicate with families when we have more information about her return. In the meantime, we are working with Area 5 office to ensure Bayside school is well supported in her absence.

Rock Your Mocks: Rock Your Mocs is an annual week-long campaign starting November 12 that promotes cultural pride by encouraging Indigenous peoples to share their stories through posting photos of and wearing their moccasins. It is a day we can all participate in and a positive opportunity to celebrate unity by wearing moccasins. We honor Indigenous peoples worldwide during Rock Your Mocs events.

On November 14th we would love to invite students, staff and visitors to wear your moccasins to school. Let’s celebrate together and ROCK OUR MOCS! If you have moccasins or traditional footwear you would like to wear to school please join us on November 14th to celebrate ROCK YOUR MOCS day.
