Happy Friday Bayside!
Well, the snow finally came! It has been a week of fun in the snow, wet boots, and chilly temperatures. When there is a significant change in the season, it can bring new routines and expectations to learn and we have been focusing this week on how to play safely and kindly in the snow as well as ensuring that students dress appropriately for the weather. Things usually take a little longer at this time of year, as students get used to putting on and taking off their layers of clothing so we have had to take a collective breath and practice patience as we get used to the changes. Our youngest grades especially are having daily practice, sometimes more than once a day, with their winter clothing. Thank you to our parents for sending your children prepared for any kind of weather!
Thank you to all of our families who braved the snow to come to Learning Conferences this week. It was wonderful to be able to connect with you around supporting our students’ learning and development. If, for any reason, you were unable to make it this week, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
REMINDERS & UPDATES:
Nut Aware: Bayside School strives to be a Nut Free school as we do have students with allergies to peanuts and other types of nuts in the building. Due to the prevalence of nut allergies at our school, we have a Nut Awareness program. Please do not send any food products that may contain nuts (e.g. peanut butter or Nutella sandwiches, cookies, etc.). Please check and read all package ingredients before sending something with your child to school.
Scholastic Book Fair: Thank you to the many volunteers who helped to make the Scholastic Book Fair a success this week! Thank you also to Ms. Tverkutes, our library assistant for her organization and communication. Our sales totaled $11634 which will translate into a significant number of new books for our library and classrooms! Thank you for supporting the Book Fair.
Photo Retakes Day: Photo Retakes will take place on Monday December 1. Please ensure your child’s teacher is aware if you wish for your child to have retakes.
Winter Wonderland Family Night: Join us for Bayside's Winter Wonderland Family night on Thursday December 11. This will be a fun evening of festive winter crafts, activities, and learning in classrooms and throughout the school! The evening will be “Open House” style to allow for families to drop in when you have availability. To help us manage the number of people, please plan to attend during the following times, according to first letter of your last name:
A-K 4:00-4:55 PM
L-Z 5:05-6:00 PM
Voices of Winter – a celebration of the winter season through stories, songs, and togetherness. At each assembly, we will be inviting different grade groups together. We will sing some songs, listen to a story, and then we will all sing Christmas songs together!

SCHOOL COUNCIL & BSFA NEWS:
Next Meeting: There will be no December meeting for Bayside School Council and BSFA. Our next meeting will be in the New Year on January 13, 2026 at 6:00PM.
Healthy Hunger: The next Healthy Hunger is A&W on December 11. Make sure to order your meal by Saturday December 6 so you don’t miss out! Healthyhunger.ca
