Happy Friday Everyone!
Hopefully everyone enjoyed the fall break. It was a little discombobulating to come back to school this week on a Thursday! At Bayside, we are very intentional about our classroom and school routines. Routines have many important benefits for students:
- Cognitive and academic benefits include improved executive functioning skills, improved focus, and enhanced organizational skills. Routines can also help to improve academic performance.
- Social/ emotional benefits include increased security and confidence, reduced stress and anxiety, and routines can promote independence
In a week when things are a little different, our teachers make sure to incorporate established routines in their classrooms to help students settle in and be ready to learn. These routines might include morning entry routines, circle meetings protocols, learning routines, and end of day clean-up routines. Ask your child about the routines in their classroom😊
