Happy Friday Bayside!
It was Teacher Appreciation Week and a wonderful opportunity to show how much we value the dedication and passion of our incredible teachers. Their hard work and commitment to the success of our students make a lasting impact every day. At Bayside we are fortunate to have a group of teachers who are genuinely dedicated to helping their students reach their full potential. They are generous with their time and energy, not only working to support the learning of their students in the classroom, but also offering extracurricular clubs and enhanced learning experiences. For example, just this week we finished swimming lessons at the YMCA for grades 1-3, some of our grade 4 classes visited Weaselhead Wetland Area, there was choir, chess club, and baseball club, and our grade 2s continued their investigation of the eggs that are getting ready to hatch in their classrooms. Next week we will be “Glow Bowling” in the gym, grade 4 Friendship Club is starting up, our Kindergarten teachers are planning a field trip to Calgary Farmyard soon, and our grade 1 classes will be participating in an interactive presentation by Teachers’ Pet to learn about different factors that impact the movement of animals and objects. These are just a few examples of the ways our teachers go above and beyond to make Bayside School an amazing place for students to learn.
Reminders and Updates:
Bus Reminder: Please, families of students who ride the school bus, notify the office ahead of time if your child will not be taking the bus at the end of the school day. It can become challenging for our staff to track down all students if we haven’t received a note from parents as we do attendance when they board the bus each day. Thank you for your help! You can email bayside@cbe.ab.ca or call the school to let us know.
Transportation Registration Delay: The following message was sent to families on May 7
It has come to our attention that the K-6 walk zone maps for some schools that were posted to the CBE’s find-a-school tool today are not correct. We will need a few days to fix this error. This means that the find-a-school tool on our website will be offline until sometime next week.
As a result, 2025-26 transportation registration, which was expected to begin tomorrow (May 8), will be delayed until the new maps are available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. More information will be shared about transportation registration once this situation is resolved.
School Council and BSFA News:
In honour of Teacher Appreciation Week….We APPRECIATE our teachers!! Today the Bayside School Council brought a treat cart (loaded with sweets and treats) around to each and every teacher and support staff to show our appreciation. We are so thankful for our hardworking teachers who go above and beyond every day to support, educate and inspire our Bayside Students! We appreciate you more than you know!
Annual General Meeting - The Bayside School Council is preparing for our Annual General Meeting coming up this Tuesday May 13th, 2025 @6:00PM. The Annual General Meeting is a great opportunity for parents to come and see what Council is and all that we do! We are a committed group pf volunteers who are striving to make your child's experience at Bayside one to remember… we are always looking for positive and engaged parents to join our crew to help inspire the next group of kids! Join us for pizza, treats and refreshments at our AGM to hear about all the ways we can support Bayside School for the future!
Summer Kick-off Dance: Summer's coming and its time to dust off those flip-flops and channel some summer vibes as we dance our way into the last month of the school year! And then… Schools out for the Summer! Bayside School Council and Fundraising Association is proud to announce a fun Summer Kick off Dance for our Students and school Community! We are just waiting some final approvals and will be sending out more information soon!
