Happy Friday Bayside!

Wow! I can’t believe we will be entering our last month of school next week! This time of year is always full of exciting activities and events. We were able to meet students and families who will be coming to Kindergarten next year at our Kindergarten Orientation yesterday. It is always so fun to connect with our new families and to see the excitement of the children as they explore their Kindergarten classroom and meet the staff.

Many other year-end special events are coming up… swimming lessons, Sports day, grade 5 farewell, Kindergarten Teddy Bear Picnic, and much more. These kinds of activities and events help our students to stay engaged and excited about school and also help to build a sense of closure as we head into the final month. We look forward to ending the year strong together!

UPDATES & REMINDERS:

Volunteers Needed!:

Swimming Lessons: We could use 1 more volunteer for swimming on Tuesday June 9th in the morning. Please email Mrs. Cassan if you have a current volunteer clearance and are available. amcassan@cbe.ab.ca

Sports Day: We can also use 4-5 more volunteers for sports day on Friday June 19th.

Transportation Reminder: Families are now able to apply for yellow school bus service for the 2026-27 school year. Service levels and fees are outlined on the CBE website. Registration is available through your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, learn how.)

Families must apply by Sunday, June 14, 2026 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 14 deadline will be delayed. It may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.

Confirmed routes will be posted in MyCBE in August. Click here for more information

Sunscreen and Bug Spray: We are so happy our families are being sun smart! We do have a request… please do not send aerosol or spray-type sunscreens or bug sprays to school. If you would like your child to reapply sunscreen during the day, we request that you send them with a small bottle of lotion-type sunscreen that they can apply independently. Spray sunscreens or bug sprays can damage the surfaces in our school and it is too challenging for staff to monitor and supervise application (especially with the spray bottles) while also supervising our students’ learning and play. A hat and a light, long sleeve shirt are also great for sun/ bug protection. Thanks again!

Lost and Found: Our Lost and Found is overflowing! Classes will be touring the lost and found over the coming weeks to try to match students up with their belongings. Parents are encouraged to come check the lost and found as well… please just check in at the office and we are happy to have you take a look! Items remaining at the end of June will be donated to Good Will so we can have a fresh start in the fall.

Summer Fun Day and Kona Ice: June 11 will be a day to remember at Bayside with a Summer Fun Spirit day and a special treat provided by BSFA and School Council.. Kona Ice! Wear your favourite summer outfit and don’t forget the sunglasses! Each year, the BSFA uses proceeds from Healthy Hunger to provide a special treat for Bayside students. For the second year, Kona Ice will be coming to visit on Thursday June 11 to bring their icy deliciousness to our students! Each of our students will receive a small shaved ice treat. Thank you to School Council and BSFA for this delightful treat!

Final Snack Shack: Our Final Snack Shack is happening this week. Details are on our website!
