Happy Friday Bayside!

Things are happening with our Outdoor Learning Circle! Students are currently working on designs for the stepping stones that will be installed in the fall. We used the feedback from students and parents in our “Connections to the Land” survey and have identified approximately 25 themes for our stepping stones that represent the Bayside school community. Each class will create a collaborative mosaic design for their theme. We hope to share our designs with you in June.

We were also successful in securing a Community Tree grant from Tree Canada! Over the next month, our students will be researching tree species that have significance in Indigenous cultures to help us determine which trees to plant around our learning circle. The trees we choose will serve many purposes including shade, aesthetic beauty, providing land-based learning opportunities, and providing a natural barrier between the playground and the learning space. Planting will be done by the CBE landscaping team in the fall.
