Happy Friday Bayside!
We are excited to have Karl Sonnichsen back for another “Mindful Monday” of yoga on May 13. It is well timed as a follow-up to some of the conversations and learning we engaged in around mental health this past week. In case you missed my earlier message, here is an introduction from Karl:
Hello, I’m Karl of Prevail Yoga. My 2 daughters and I love being part of this amazing Bayside School community; just like all of the Bayside families I understand the hectic days that life can throw at us and our children. I also understand the importance of a moment of mindfulness in our days and how simple movement can bring a lift to how our day is going.
I strive to create a space where everyone feels welcome regardless of knowledge of or experience with yoga. I’m excited to take part in introducing yoga to the amazing students at Bayside and helping bring them this unique opportunity to celebrate growth, mental health and the simple joys of movement.
Updates and Reminders:
Family Travel Survey: Bayside School has partnered with Active and Safe Routes to School over the past two years. Please take a few minutes to fill in the Family Travel Survey. This survey will provide us with important feedback regarding pedestrian and traffic safety around our school.

Transportation Updates:
Transportation registration for 2024-25 is coming soon. Watch for more information about registration for transportation for the next school year. Families must register by the deadline for students to be added to routes for the start of the school this fall. Click Here to visit the CBE Transportation Page. Bus transportation is only available to Bayside families who reside in Mahogany as all Auburn Bay addresses are within the walk zone.
Families are also invited to register for the My First Ride presentation being offered on May 25 and 26. Click Here for more information and links to register.
Wheel Week: May 13-17 is Wheel Week where students are encouraged to ride their bikes and scooters to school. Wheeling to school promotes healthy physical activity and fosters a sense of community while being environmentally conscious. Riding a bike or scooter to school can also help reduce traffic and can lead to safer streets and cleaner air.
Make sure you have a lock for your ride and wear a helmet. A reminder to all students and parents to please walk your bikes and scooters on school grounds for everyone’s safety.
Spring Celebration of Learning: We look forward to sharing student learning with our families on May 16. We will have interactive displays of student work and fun learning activities for the whole family. At 5:20-5:40, we will be showing appreciation for all of the community members who contributed to the construction of our playground in an official opening ceremony. A special thank you to Topp Kids for their flexibility and willingness to free up the gym for us to prepare for the evening.
We ask that families attend during the following times according to the first letter of your last name if at all possible to help us with managing numbers:
4:30-5:20 Letters L-Z
5:20-5:40 Playground opening (all welcome: outside by the playground)
5:40-6:30 Letters A-K
