We were fortunate to have a well-timed snowfall last week in order for students to try out snowshoeing! Ms. Cassan, our Phys. Ed. teacher, provides amazing leadership in our school around Physical Education and Wellness. She has also been actively seeking ways to incorporate our school development plan goals into the Phys Ed program through formative assessment and feedback. Recently, she led our staff through a demonstration of how to use Plickers to check in with students. Ask your child about how they have used Plickers in the gym!
Updates and Reminders:
Learning Conferences: Thursday March 21 (4:00-8:00 PM) and Friday March 22 (8:00 AM-12:00 PM) will be the third formal opportunity to meet with teachers to discuss your child’s learning and progress. Online booking will open through MyCBE on Thursday March 15 at 5:00 PM. We encourage students to attend the conference with your family so they can speak to their learning and participate in the conversation.
Scholastic Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Bayside March 18-22. Sales will take place during parent teacher conferences. Check out our News story for more information.
Fasting Students during Ramadan: Students in grades 3-5 who are fasting during Ramadan and who wish to spend lunch time in a “food-free zone” are welcome to do so with Ms. van Runt on Day 1 and Ms. Iafolla on Day 2. If your child is planning to fast during Ramadan, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to let us know how we can best support them at school.
Nickle Open House: A reminder to parents of grade 5 students who will be attending Nickle next year. The Open House is coming up. Presentation will start at 6:30 pm in the Main Gym and then you will have a chance to see the school.
