Hello Bayside Families,
With the arrival of the Spring Equinox today, we’re reminded of all the fresh starts and new growth that come with this season. Just like the days are getting longer, we’re excited to see new opportunities for learning and growth here at Bayside. It’s a great time to reflect on how far we’ve come and set new goals as we head into the rest of the school year.
We would like to wish our families and staff a restful and rejuvenating spring break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on March 31.
Updates and Reminders:
Welcome back Mr. Chang! We are excited to welcome Mr. Chang back to Bayside on March 21. On March 20, 2025 the Calgary Board of Education Board of Trustees ratified the collective agreement with Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 40 following ratification by CUPE members on March 19, bringing the CUPE labour action to a close. Mr. Chang will be working hard over Spring Break to prepare the school for our return.
Bayside outdoor Learning Space: We are ready for the next phase of bringing our outdoor learning space to life. We invite all families to share your input about your connections to the land in a brief survey. The ideas we gather will be the basis for the design of mosaic stepping stones for the space. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us! The survey will be open until April 12, 2025.
Swimming Lessons: Our Grade 1-3 classes will have the opportunity to participate in Swimming lessons at Seton YMCA April 28-May 2 and May 5-9. We will need at least 5-6 volunteers each day from 8:45 AM-11:45 AM. Parents who volunteer are not required to ride the bus back and forth to the school and YMCA (You are welcome to drive yourself to the Y if you wish). Parents will also stay dry (you do not need to enter the pool). You will help students with boarding and getting off the bus, and will supervise students getting ready in the change rooms before and after lessons. We request that parents who volunteer plan to help all classes in the morning, not just your own child’s class. A current CBE volunteer clearance is required.
