Happy Friday Bayside!
We welcomed our youngest learners yesterday evening with our Welcome to Kindergarten orientation. Thank you to our Kindergarten team and to our School Council for organizing such a successful event. We also had an awesome Wheel Week, capped off with ABCDay on Thursday. Many students walked, biked, and rode their scooters to school this week, rather than arriving in a car. Congratulations to the students who participated and won the t-shirt draws through the week! Thank you to Ms. Cassan and Mr. Corriveau for organizing the fun. We hope the experience has helped families to consider active transportation as something you can continue as a daily habit.
Reminders & Updates:
National Indigenous History Month: June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, an opportunity to honour the histories, cultures, and resilience of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Canada. We acknowledge the contributions of Indigenous peoples to our society, their enduring cultures, languages, and traditions, and their incredible resilience in the face of historical and ongoing challenges. In addition to the daily learning in classrooms connected to curriculum we have two exciting events coming up this month to help us celebrate: Elder Hal Eagletail will be coming to Bayside to engage our students in an Asking for the Land Ceremony on June 12th and 13th and we will be celebrating National Indigenous People’s Day with activities planned throughout the morning on Friday June 21st. Thank you to Ms. Mask and her committee of teachers for leading us in this work.
From the Learning Commons: We are nearing the end of library visits for another year. Students will visit one final time during the week of June 10. Leading up to this deadline, there has been a concentrated effort to ensure that students are returning books on a weekly basis.
As well, an inventory of the entire collection has been scheduled for June 21. To accommodate this process, ALL books need to be returned by June 17.
Books that are not returned by June 17 are assumed lost. The replacement cost of the book will be included on a student’s on-line account for payment. This also pertains to books damaged beyond repair. If the book is found after June 17, it can still be returned to the library and the fee will be removed. If the payment creates a hardship for your family, please contact either Darby McAsey or Calleigh Harder in the office (403.817.3436 or email bayside@cbe.ab.ca).
Report Cards: Our teachers have begun work on report cards for the final term this year. You can find information HERE about how to view your child’s report card online, once it is available June 26, 2024.
Transportation: A reminder to Mahogany parents to register for bus transportation for the 2024-25 school year before June 16.
School Fees: As the school year is almost over, please make sure to log in and check your MyCBE account as you may have fees still outstanding. New fees are added throughout the year which include: field trips. You may also have lunch supervision fees outstanding. You can make partial payments if needed or apply for a waiver online. Please call our office (403-817-3436) or send us an email (bayside@cbe.ab.ca) if you have questions about fees.
