Happy Friday Bayside parents!
Next week will be a shorter week due to Teachers’ Convention and Family Day on Monday. During Teachers’ Convention, our teachers will be attending to their own learning and development to help improve learning for our students. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday February 20 with everyone refreshed and full of new ideas!
Updates and Reminders:
Important Registration Dates: Parents who are planning on registering your child for Kindergarten are reminded that we anticipate we will need to do a draw for AM and PM spots (we have had many more requests for morning than afternoon Kindergarten). Please ensure you have entered you registration by Tuesday February 13 to be included in the draw. Registrations received after February 13 will be placed in AM or PM according to available space. Families who do not receive their preferred AM or PM placement will be added to a Waitlist and will be called in order of the draw and offered their preferred placement as spaces open up. The draw for AM and PM will take place once the Mahogany lottery process is complete in mid-March and parents will be notified of their child’s placement in April.
Parents of grade 5 students attending Bayside and living within the Attendance boundary for Lakeshore school have been automatically added to the Lakeshore/ Nickle lottery. More information on Lakeshore lottery can be found here.
Students in Kindergarten-grade 4 living within Bayside’s attendance area are automatically designated to Bayside for the next school year and grade. There is no need to fill out a new registration.

Our Website is changing: The Calgary Board of Education is replacing our existing public facing school website with a new application and updated site https://bayside.cbe.ab.ca. Our new site is set to launch on February 14, 2024.

February 20 Council Meeting: The Bayside Parent Council would like to invite you to a special seminar on Internet Safety. This presentation will be lead by the Calgary Police Service and will include topics such as online gaming, cellphone and social media usage as they pertain to youth mental health. Attendees will be provides with parent resources on managing wifi and gaming controls and increasing cyber safety.
The seminar will take place on Tuesday, February 20th at 6:30pm (immediately following the School Council meeting that will begin at 5:00pm) Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
