Happy Friday Bayside!

We had a terrific first two days of school! This year Bayside students are beginning the year thinking about what makes them unique and how they can help our community with their gifts and talents. The book “We Need Everyone” by Michael Redhead Champagne has inspired us and will hep to guide our work as every class enjoys it as a read aloud.

“Everyone has a gift. Gifts are skills and talents we share with others. Every gift is different, and every gift is special. But why do we call it a gift? Because a gift is for sharing with others!”

Together we are building some collaborative art that will be on display in our Learning Commons later in the month when families are visiting for Meet the Teacher. We invite you to talk to your child about their gifts and how they help to make the community a better place.

Traffic and Parking: Thank you to the families who walked or who took the time to park a short distance away from the school to help reduce the traffic. It makes a big difference for the safety of our students. A few reminders:

-          Please do not park or drop students off in the staff parking lot. We do have a few families who need to use the accessible parking in our lot for their student so it is especially important to leave that spot available

-          The Bus Zone (along Auburn Springs Blvd) is a no stopping or parking zone. Please ensure you do not stop to drop students off in this zone as a number of buses must be able to pull in and out safely.

Bikes and scooters: We appreciate everyone walking their bikes and scooters while on school property for the safety of everyone.

Dogs: Thank you to our families who have been observing the City of Calgary Bylaw and keeping your beautiful pets off of school property.

Kindergarten: Kindergarten families should have received a welcome email today from their child’s confirmed teacher. If you did not receive the communication, please contact Ms. Sanderson kmsanderson@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. Veronese (mcveronese@cbe.ab.ca) and they will ensure you get the information you need.

Personal Mobile Devices: If you have not done so already, please familiarize yourself with the restrictions on the use of personal mobile devices in school.

School Council & Parent Fundraising Association: Our School Council and BSFA AGM is on Tuesday September 17 at 6:00 PM. We have a number of positions that will be open. Visit our Webpage for more information about School Council and Fundraising and how you can get involved.
